Unlike the Borderlands shooter games, Tales of the Borderlands is a storytelling adventure where players choose how the story plays out. Characters

The episodes feature two main characters: Rhys, a Hyperion business shark and Fiona, a tough-as-nails con artist. They have vastly different personalities but their circumstances force them to work together. How they and other characters in the story react is up to the player. Handsome Jack is the main antagonist of Borderlands 2, and the deuteragonist of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. He has taken over the Hyperion corporation, declared himself dictator of Pandora, and stolen all of the credit for finding The Vault, going so far as to claim responsibility for killing The Destroyer. Fiona is a professional Pandoran con artist, and one of the two main protagonists of Tales from the Borderlands. Rhys Strongfork is the current CEO of the Atlas corporation, a former middle manager of Hyperion, and one of the two main protagonists of Tales from the Borderlands. Vaughn is a non-player character in Tales from the Borderlands, Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary and in Borderlands 3. He is a friend of Rhys. Sasha is a character and one of the deuteragonists in Tales from the Borderlands. She is Fiona’s younger sister.

Episode Plot

The episode begins with Rhys walking around in a desert. He calls out for Fiona, claiming that they can work something out. He looks around and sees a mysterious figure appear walking towards him. Rhys gets knocked out by the man. After regaining consciousness, he realizes that is being dragged through the desert with his torso tied. The kidnapper orders him to start at the beginning of his involvement with the Gortys Project. Rhys talks about his life at Hyperion, and his friend Vaughn. Rhys claims that Handsome Jack was the baddest guy of them all, and that he wanted to be just like him. Borderlands 3 Designer’s Cut

Vaughn helps his friend get ready for his supposed promotion by Henderson. Rhys goes inside and is surprised to see Hugo Vasquez is the new boss. Vasquez is ordering a black car from a guy named Jerry before informing Rhys that his promotion is coming. He promotes him to Assistant Vice Janitor and then reveals he threw Henderson out an airlock. Rhys can act threateningly towards Vasquez.
